Hello
Guest,
The BIMcollab team is always looking for new ways to innovate and help all AEC industry collaborators.

In this Tech Tip edition, you will learn about useful techniques to improve collaboration with team members using the new features included in BIMcollab Cloud; how to master the creation of Smart Views; new Power BI templates for Issues reposts. And finally, we have great news for the early adopters out there.
Enjoy the read!

NEW: Improve collaboration between BIMcollab Cloud and ZOOM

Without any doubt, working on your model's validation in ZOOM connected to a BIMcollab Cloud project has a lot of advantages. Not only you can share issues with the rest of your team immediately, BIMcollab Cloud also allows you to share your model validation rules; Smart views, Lists, Clash rules, Smart Properties (and even IDS specifications soon!) These are what we call "ZOOM resources".
Yet, sharing ZOOM resources isn't anything new. However, they were only visible from ZOOM. Hence, since last update, we have added to BIMcollab Cloud a new section to the project's settings page that displays all ZOOM resources shared in your project.

This information is now available to team members with ZOOM edit rights, allowing them to check the status of the project at any time (and without the need to install ZOOM!)
TIP: Get even more out of your BIMcollab space by publishing your List results as tables to your project.

Use these Wildcards to master the creation of rules in ZOOM

When it comes to model validation, anyone who has worked with ZOOM resources may have noticed that to execute them, several selection rules must be created. These rules not only help specify the type of entities you want to review, but they can also be as complex as needed based on the needs of your project. Nevertheless, did you know that it is possible to further improve your work process by taking advantage of these rules?
By employing wildcards in your validation rules, you can instruct ZOOM to look for particular requirements that you might not be able to identify using simple values.
Do you want to examine your model's naming structure? Filter the elements based on their classification values' first digits? Or even check the number of characters used in any property? Then visit our Helpcenter to learn how to use these wildcards available on ZOOM and see some practical examples.

Enhance your Issues report with our new power BI templates
As your project progresses, you will notice that monitoring your model data is essential to keep improving the performance of your project. For that, you can use tools like Lists and Smart Properties to successfully extract your model data in ZOOM. So, why not take advantage of this information and start creating custom reports?
BIMcollab makes this easy by allowing you to retrieve all information from your project using our Power BI connector. Moreover, thanks to our new Power BI templates, anyone can now easily create highly detailed Issues and IFC reports in just a few simple steps.
It is extremely simple! If you haven't tried them yet, check out the tutorial in our Helpcenter and start using the new templates!

Two new features are coming to BIMcollab later this year!
Have you heard about what is coming to BIMcollab? As previously announced in our Sneak peek event, the IDS implementation and our model streaming viewer will be included in the BIMcollab ecosystem.
If you missed it, you can watch the recording now. Learn all about how these upcoming new tools work and how you can integrate them into your current workflow.

New BCF Managers for Revit, Navisworks, and Archicad!
You no longer need to wait to update your favorite BIM software!
Users who like to stay up to date with the latest solutions on the market can now continue working within the BIMcollab ecosystem with the release of our BCF Managers for Revit and Navisworks 2024.
We would also like to inform our MacOS users that the most recent BCF Manager now supports the new Appel silicon native version of Archicad 26, take the chance to test it and become even faster in BIM modeling!
