Hi Guest,

This edition of the BIMcollab Tech Tip contains some exciting news for our German-speaking users due to the introduction of a new support platform for them. Additionally, a new feature to speed up your Smart Properties workflow is already available in the new version of BIMcollab ZOOM. Take the opportunity to try it by using a new package of downloadable ZOOM resources created by our experts. And as a bonus, some tips for handling your BIMcollab Cloud project like a pro. Keep reading to know all the details and enjoy!

Hallo, our German BIMcollab Academy is here!
For sure the big announcement in this tech tip edition will be the launch of our new German BIMcollab Academy!
Our team has been working hard to add a new language to the BIMcollab Academy by taking into account the requests from our users. As a result, our BIMcollab ZOOM basic course and BIMcollab ZOOM Clash Detection course have been selected as the first to be available in German (many more German courses are also coming up soon!).
Do you want to know more about our courses?

Good news, we remind you that the BIMcollab Academy is completely free, so there is no excuse not to try it out. Take advantage of the exercises and information gathered by our ZOOM experts, and of course, don’t forget to share your certificate!
TIP: In order to master Smart Views, The BIMcollab ZOOM basic course includes several units specially dedicated to it.

NEW: Shared Smart Properties are now available within your projects

Since our January ZOOM release, you can now use the shared folder to distribute your Smart Properties among team members. All information from shared Smart Properties can now be easily retrieved by just connecting to your BIMcollab Cloud project, as well as your shared Smart Views, Lists, Clash Rules, and of course, Issues.

Once connected to your BIMcollab project, the new shared folder will be accessible from the Smart Properties panel. Drag your sets into this folder to share them, then synchronize your project to complete the process.
TIP: Create a large number of Smart Properties quickly by importing rules using CSV files.

Get some inspiration to create your own Smart Properties
To commemorate the launch of the new shared Smart Properties, we have made available a wide range of Smart Properties sets created by our BIMcollab experts. These sets are classified by language, and they also include their own Smart Views sets specially designed to experience the capabilities of the imported Smart Properties.
You can test them now by downloading the set that suits you best, unzipping the file, and then importing the Smart Properties set and the included Smart Views file into BIMcollab ZOOM. Edit them at your convenience and get inspired to create your own sets. What better opportunity than this to try them out?

Use the Activities log to keep track of your project's progress
Issues are not static; then, working in a collaborative workflow involves more than just checking "New" or "Closed" Issues. For this purpose, BIMcollab Cloud offers you the Activities view mode. All team members of a project can access this view mode by going to the Issues page and clicking on the ”Show Activities" button.

By doing so, a new table with a list of all activities and the Issue number associated with them will be displayed. Keep track of new comments added, changes made to the Issues information, imported issues from BCF files, and much more.
TIP: Activities logs are also available to export as reports or from the data gathered by our Power BI connector.

Interested in learning more? We have a new BIMcollab course for you

The BIMcollab Academy keeps growing! With the completion of our ZOOM path, you now have access to a total of four ZOOM dedicated courses (So going from zero to an expert is actually possible).

Now, our new course is dedicated to teaching you how to master the BIMcollab Cloud. Ideal for team leaders, BIM managers, coordinators, and anyone looking to improve their BIMcollab skills. This new course starts with the fundamentals of how to create projects, manage issues, and invite users to useful insights such as the Activities view mode, and setting up your integrations with Autodesk Docs or Trimble Connect.

Hi there!
If you've ever wondered whether the person behind our support chat is a bot (Believe us! We are real) Please allow us to introduce ourselves!

A new article dedicated to the BIMcollab support team is now available in our Helpcenter; here, you will find a brief introduction to each support agent as well as an explanation of all the tasks and services we provide to all BIMcollab users. We’re proud that our team includes several multi-disciplinary (and international!) professionals from the BIM sector, each with their own set of skills willing to assist you.
Did you know that...
  • For those cases where it is needed, Project leaders have the option to hide BIMcollab projects from administrators?
  • It is possible to set the frequency of your BIMcollab email reports? Decide if you want to receive your reports once a day, weekly, or immediately.
